The University of Turbat organized a walk to raise awareness against the menace of corruption here on 7th December, 2018 in connection with World Anticorruption Day and observance of anticorruption week across the country.
Dean Sciences Dr Haneef Rahman, Chairperson Education department Mahnaz Aslam, Tahir Hakeem, Jameel Ahmed, and Deputy Registrar Gangzar Baloch, faculty members, administrative staff and students participated in the walk which was led by UoT registrar Ghulam Farooq Baloch. The walk started from University Public Library and concluded at Fida Shaheed Chowk after passing through different roads of Turbat city.
Speaking on the occasion, speakers said that corruption was major problem of the country. They urged people to strive for elimination of corruption from society saying that the misuse of resources and powers had pushed the country to the verge of crises.
As the part of the observance of anticorruption week they reiterated their resolve to assist National Accountability Bureau (NAB) and Higher Education Commission (HEC) in the efforts to curb corruption from society.
Speakers said that culture of zero tolerance against corruption should be promoted in society to discourage all kinds of corruption and misappropriation in all walks of life.
Speaking at this occasion Ghulam Farooq Baloch said that objective of holding awareness walk was to renew the UoT’s pledge against corruption and sensitize the society for waging a war against the corruption adding that effective measures and line of action should be adopted for ensuring corruption free Pakistan to strengthen citizens’ confidence in the institutions. He said that concrete steps should be taken into account to eliminate it with the cooperation of the civil society which is imperative for eradicating this menace from the roots.
The participants of the walk were carrying out banners and posters with different slogans for creating awareness among masses against corruption to create a corruption free society.
