Welcome to the Department of Chemistry

Introduction

We welcome you to the Department of Chemistry at the University of Turbat. The Department of Chemistry is a newly established department with experienced, committed and highly talented faculty members and academic staff who are decided to develop and offer world-class undergraduate and graduate programmes. Currently, we offer 4-years BS and 2-years M.Sc programme and planning to initiate a graduate programme (M.Phil / M.Phil leading to PhD) in “Chemistry”  with a specialisation in Biochemistry and Analytical Chemistry.

Being a central science, Chemistry emphasizes much of the efforts of scientists and engineers to improve life for mankind. The chemistry program at the University of Turbat is thus designed to give students a grasp of the basic principles of chemical sciences through a course of study and research to enable them to offer solutions to daily-life challenges. The theoretical background of students is further expanded through carefully designed courses of laboratory experiments to demonstrate basic concepts and experimental techniques that serve as a stepping stone to research in modern Chemistry.

Faculty members in the chemistry department are taking initiatives to build up infrastructure facilities for conducting research to develop new materials such as fine chemicals, coatings, functionalized polymers, organometallics, and functionalized nanomaterials. These types of materials have potential applications in different aspects of human life such as diagnostics and treatment of various diseases, drug delivery, catalysis, optics, electronics, environmental remediation, and sustainable energy production, etc. Faculty members are trying to develop national and international linkages for collaborative research that would be very helpful for the successful implementation of such exciting research projects.

Chairman's Message

Chemistry is a good discipline of science and plays a very important role in the field of chemical and biological sciences. chemistry is the science that enables us to use non-lining things for providing ease of life. It is necessary to train our young generation to understand the principles underlying the composition, structure, and properties of substances, and utilize these substances for benefit of mankind. The Department of Chemistry, University of Turbat is well established and equipped with laboratories and infrastructure along with experienced academic staff for pursuing this task. The Graduate and Master's program in Chemistry is set to meet the upcoming requirements of competent human resources of the national and international community. The Department of Chemistry offers all disciplines of chemistry including inorganic, organic, physical, and biochemistry at BS and M.Sc levels. 

The student-faculty interaction at the University of Turbat provides a unique and intellectual environment to ensure excellent undergraduate/graduate education and research with the potential to produce important and exciting scientific discoveries. Faculty members of the Department of Chemistry have always welcomed the students to discuss academic/non-academic matters related to their studies at the University of Turbat and their future plans. We also promote and guide our students to get scholarships/fellowships for graduate studies at the best universities in the world.

Eligibility for Admission

  • F.Sc degree is a pre-requisite for admission to the BS program. 
  • B.Sc degree in Chemistry is a pre-requisite for admission in the M.Sc program.

Future Programme:

The establishment of high tech. laboratory for the initiation of the M.Phil./Ph.D program in the Chemistry Department at the University of Turbat is our main plan in the future.
