Federal Secretary for Planning and Development visits University of Turbat

Federal Secretary for Planning and Development, Mr. Abdul Aziz Uqaili has said that he was very happy to see the University of Turbat much better and more developed beyond his expectations. He expressed these views while presiding over a meeting held at the University of Turbat (UoT) on 27th January 2022 during his visit to UoT. Commissioner Mekran Division, Shabir Mengal, and Deputy Commissioner District Kech, Hussain Jan have also accompanied him.

Vice-Chancellor, University of Turbat, Prof. Dr. Jan Muhammad, Pro-Vice-Chancellor, Dr. Mansoor Ahmed, Registrar Ganguzar Baloch, Dean, Faculty of Science and Engineering, Dr. Naeemullah, Dean, Academics, Dr. Adeel Ahmed, Director Finance, Shahbek Syed, Director QEC, Dr. Riaz Ahmed, Director Public Relations, Ijaz Ahmed, Project Director, Manzoor Ahmed, PSO to Vice-Chancellor, Chaker Hyder and heads of different academic and administrative departments attended the meeting.

Addressing the meeting, Federal Secretary for Planning said that it was the era of technology and we should pay more focus on educating students in the field of information technology. Emphasizing on plantation and greenery of the university, the Federal Secretary assured for release of funds to complete the phase-II of the University of Turbat well in time. He appreciated the efforts of faculty members and administrative staff under the leadership of the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Dr. Jan Muhammad in bringing the University on a par with reputed institutions of higher learning of the country in a short span of time.  He also assured to provide all-out support for the further development of the university including enhancing the digital connectivity of the varsity through optic fiber program.

In his welcome speech, Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Dr. Jan Muhammad highlighted the academic achievements and future requirements of the university. He thanked Federal Government and Planning Commission for paying special attention to phase-II of the University of Turbat. VC informed the Federal Secretary that “Pakistan Software Export Board (PSEB) is going to start different free IT training and certification courses from the first week of February for fresh graduates and IT professionals at UoT; and PSEB also vowed to establish a software technology park at the University of Turbat.”

While giving a briefing on phase-II of the university, the Project Director, Manzoor Ahmed said that phase I of the university has successfully been completed and the work on phase II has been started at the cost of Rs. 1,456.14 (M). He added that phase II includes academic blocks, common facilities, student hostels, faculty & staff housing, bachelor faculty hostel, external development works, consultancy services, solar plant, lab equipment, furniture, transport, networking, automation, and other components. At the end of the meeting, the Vice-Chancellor presented a commemorative shield to the Secretary Planning. Earlier, the Vice-Chancellor along with his team warmly welcomed the Federal Secretary on his arrival at university.
