VC UoT expresses his gratitude to the Provincial Government for the release of funds to the universities.

Prof. Dr. Jan Muhammad, Vice Chancellor (VC) of the University of Turbat (UoT) expressed his gratitude and lauded the Government of Balochistan for providing Rs 2.5 billion to the public sector universities of Balochistan in the current financial year 2022-23.
Earlier, Chief Minister Balochistan Mir Abdul Quddus Bizenjo presided over the meeting of Vice-Chancellors held on 19th August 2022 at Quetta. The issues related to the provision of grant-in-aid to the universities of the province were reviewed in the meeting. On the occasion, the CM Balochistan Mir Abdul Quddus Bizenjo approved the immediate release of grant-in-aid worth Rs 2.5 billion for ten public sector universities in the province.
He said that the students studying in the universities of the province are future generations. Moreover, he noted that university students were an ongoing investment for a brighter future for our province and it was his government’s top priority to facilitate them throughout their educational journey so that they would excel in all modern disciplines of education.
Besides, Prof. Dr. Jan Muhammad, VC UoT, and Vice Chancellors and officials of other universities, Abdul Aziz Uqaili, Chief Secretary Balochistan, Nasir Dotani, Principal Secretary to Governor, and Hafiz Abdul Majid, Secretary Colleges, Higher & Technical Education also participated in the meeting.
As per the details, all factors have been taken into consideration in the fixed multi-sector formula for the distribution of grant-in-aid to the universities. It was agreed in the meeting that universities are autonomous institutions and they can be made self-reliant through better fiscal management and revenue generation. It was further decided in the meeting that the Chief Secretary, along with the Vice Chancellors of the major universities of Balochistan, would meet with the Chairman HEC to discuss the provision of a 9% share to the universities of the province under the formula of NFC award, while the Chief Minister of Balochistan would send a letter to the Prime Minister in this regard.
Addressing the meeting, the Chief Minister directed the government officials to take concerted efforts to solve the financial problems and other issues of the universities despite the limited financial resources at the disposal of the government at present.
The Chief Minister emphasized the establishment of market-oriented and skills-development disciplines in the universities and the improvement of the quality of education so that the standards of our universities could be at par with the leading national and international universities.
