Two Days Business Idea Challenge concluded at Turbat University.

The Vice-Chancellor (VC), of the University of Turbat (UoT), Prof. Dr. Jan Muhammad has said that it is high time for the faculty members of the University of Turbat to enhance the entrepreneurial skills of the students along with imparting quality education in the classrooms. With the help of qualified faculty members, our students can thrive in their respective fields not only in the country but also at the international level. He expressed these views while addressing the closing ceremony of the Business Idea Challenge (BIC 2022), which was organized by the Faculty of Economics, Commerce, and Business Administration on 29th and 30th November 2022 at the University of Turbat. The basic objective of the event was to foster the entrepreneurial ideas and skills of students. Twelve business ideas were shortlisted out of 29, which were submitted by the students of different departments of the university. The shortlisted teams presented and defended their ideas in front of a three members jury headed by Dr. Waseem Barkat, Dean, Faculty of Economics, Commerce, and Business Administration, including an internal member, Dr. Ghulam Jan, Director ORIC, and an external member, Mr. Muzaffar Shan, an entrepreneur and the founder of Kech Amenities and Entertainment. The team “Komak” got the first position, followed by the team “Kech Royal Event Management” and “Gwadar Amusement Beach” which secured the 2nd and 3rd positions respectively. The first position holder team was awarded Rs.40, 000/-, while 2nd and 3rd position holders were awarded Rs.25, 000/- and Rs.15, 000/- respectively along with shields and certificates.

Speaking on the occasion, the Vice Chancellor emphasized that faculty members should engage students in such creative activities, which are very important for the socio-economic development of any society. Prof. Dr. Jan Muhammad further added that today technology has become our need and the world has become digitalized. The Vice-Chancellor urged the students to get out of the mindset of getting a seventeen-grade job, and rather plan to start their own businesses in this competitive world. When you are committed and your direction is on the right way in the field of entrepreneurial-ship, the finance and capital will come to you automatically. VC requested faculty members to put in their maximum efforts to creating job providers instead of degree-holder graduates only. VC announced organizing a business gala, job fair, and sports festival at Turbat University in January next year at a larger scale, in which entrepreneurs and investors across the country will be invited to participate. He congratulated the organizers, participants and Dean, Faculty of Economics, and Business Administration and his team for successfully organizing such a creative and innovative event at Turbat University.

The Dean Dr. Waseem Barkat, Assistant Professor Dr. Abdul Majid Nasir, Director of ORIC Dr. Ghulam Jan, and Convener of the event Muhammad Waris, also spoke on the occasion. At the end of the event, VC Prof. Dr. Jan Muhammad, Dr. Abdul Saboor Baloch, Dean, Faculty of Arts, Social Sciences and Humanities, Dr. Adeel Ahmed, Dean Academics, and Dr. Riaz Ahmed, Director QEC distributed cash prizes, certificates, and shields among position holders, participants, jury members and organizers of the event. The inaugural and closing ceremony of the event was also attended by the Pro-Vice-Chancellor, Registrar, Deans, Directors, Chairpersons, faculty members, and students of the university in large numbers.
