The Istehkam-e-Balochistan Sports Week 2022 at the University of Turbat concluded on 27th February 2022. During the week-long sports activities, the male and female students of the university had participated in different indoor and outdoor games including cricket, football, volleyball, badminton, table tennis, and other national and local games. The final match of the Cricket was played between the Department of Balochi and the Department of Economics on 27th February 2022 at the University Cricket Ground, which was won by the Department of Economics. Prof. Dr. Jan Muhammad, Vice-Chancellor, University of Turbat was the chief guest of the match. Dr. Abdul Saboor Baloch, Dean, Faculty of Arts, Social Sciences and Humanities, Mazhar Ali, Director Sports, Ghous Bakhsh, Assistant Registrar, faculty members, and students were also present on the occasion.
Addressing the occasion, the Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Jan Mohammad said that the participation and performance of the students in the entire Sports Week were very impressive. He said that organizing healthy activities like sports at the university would make the students physically and mentally fit and strong.
He assured to provide opportunities and platforms to the students for showcasing their talents at the national level so that they can shine the name of the University of Turbat and Balochistan not only in the field of education but also in the field of sports.
The Vice-Chancellor appreciated the efforts of Director Sports Mazhar Ali, participating teams, faculty members, admin staff, and students for organizing Istehkam-e-Balochistan Sports Week successfully at the University of Turbat.
In the final match of the cricket, Balochi Department won the toss and elected to bat first, and set a target of 98 runs for the loss of 6 wickets for Economics Department to win in the stipulated 12 overs. Wasim from Balochi Department scored 34 runs while Saghir and Captain Suhail from Economics Department took 2 and 1 wickets respectively.
While chasing the target, the Economics Department achieved it for the loss of 3 wickets and won the match by 7 wickets. Man of the Match Talal with 32 runs and Sohail with 28 runs remained the top scorer. At the end of the match, the Vice-Chancellor handed over the winner and runner-up trophies to the captains of both teams. Earlier, the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Dr. Jan Muhammad, and Dean Prof. Dr. Abdul Saboor Baloch encouraged the players of both the teams by meeting and shaking hands with them on the ground.
