Turbat University and VU to start Digital Skills Courses jointly at UoT

The University of Turbat (UoT) in collaboration with the Virtual University (VU) of Pakistan is going to start Digital Skills Courses at UoT for the youth of Balochistan. In this regard, a ceremony was held at the computer lab of Turbat University on 24th February 2022. The chief guest of the ceremony   Prof. Dr. Jan Muhammad, Vice-Chancellor, University of Turbat inaugurated the registration and enrollment process for DigiSkills Courses. Dr.  Zafar M. Alvi, Project Director, Digital Skills, Adil Abbas Butt, Campus Manager, Quetta, VU, Nabeel Amjad, Assistant Manager, DigiSkills, Chakar Hyder, PSO to Vice-Chancellor, Faculty Members and students were present on the occasion. A number of students were enrolled and registered in various Digital Skills courses on this occasion.

Addressing the students, VC Dr. Jan Muhammad said “it is an era of technology and digital transformation and without having command on digital skills; it is difficult to drive innovation and face the challenges of the time.  Therefore, we are working on a comprehensive program in collaboration with Virtual University in order to equip our youth with contemporary Digital Skills for enabling them to explore a wide range of professional opportunities.”

Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Zafar M. Alvi said “the purpose of  DigiSkills Training Program is to help the youth of underprivileged districts of Balochistan in learning new profitable skills which can be useful for them in their professional lives.” He said that we are going to establish a state-of-the-art computer lab at the Law Faculty of the University of Turbat where youth would be trained in different Digital Skills courses free of cost. After completing the training, they would be able to start earning revenue from home through freelancing. He thanked VC UoT for his support in starting Digital Skills Courses at the University of Turbat.  Earlier, the Virtual University team also called on varsity’s Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Dr. Jan Muhammad at his chamber and discussed the matters related to facilities and infrastructure available at UoT for starting DigiSkills Courses.
