University of Turbat organizes 1st International Multidisciplinary Conference

The two days long 1st International Multidisciplinary Conference on “Sustainable Development Goals: Avenue for Knowledge and Research Collaboration” was organized by the University of Turbat (UoT) at its Law Faculty on 17th & 18th of March, 2022 in collaboration with the Higher Education Commission, Virtual University of Pakistan, University of Sialkot, Project Pakistan and Balochistan Bar Council.
Lt. General Sarfraz Ali, Commander 12 Corps, Quetta, and Justice Hashim Khan Kakar, Senior Judge of Balochistan High Court were the chief guests of the closing and inaugural session of the conference respectively.
Addressing on the occasion closing ceremony, Lt. General Sarfraz Ali said that the youth of Balochistan is assets and guarantor of bright future of the country. The University of Turbat started its work in 2013 in which thousands of young people are pursuing higher education today. The credit for this success goes to the faculty members of the university who worked tirelessly for the promotion of education which proved fruitful. Lt General Sarfraz Ali thanked VC UoT, Dean of Law Faculty, teachers, and students for organizing the international conference successfully. He said that organizing such conference is very significant in uplifting society. He said that Turbat University achieved many successes in a short time. He assured his full support for the further progress of the university and Law College.
Addressing during the inaugural session of the conference, Justice Muhammad Hashim Khan Kakar said “we should educate our youth in line with the demand of modern time instead of the traditional system of education. The people of Balochistan are patriotic, caring, and pro-education.” Congratulating the UoT’s Vice-Chancellor and his team for the completion of the Law College building, Justice Hashim Kakar said that the establishment of Law College at Turbat and construction of its building in record period with quality would not have been possible without the cooperation and interest of Dr. Abdul Malik Baloch, former Chief Minister of Balochistan and Shaheed Tariq Zehri, former Commissioner of Mekran Division.
Addressing during the conference, Prof. Dr. Jan Muhammad, Vice-Chancellor, University of Turbat said that it is a historical moment for the University of Turbat to host 1st International Conference in which the academicians and research scholars from across the country and abroad presented their latest research works. He emphasized that researchers should find out the solutions to the problems faced by us in connection with Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). He thanked Justice Hashim Kakar for his interest and support in establishing a Law College at Turbat.
Dr. Saeed Ul Hassan Chishti, VC Sialkot University said that the people of this region are very lucky to have a good institution of higher learning in the form of Turbat University. Dr. Chishti said that the students of Turbat University are very intelligent and have the potential to contribute in national development. He congratulated VC Dr. Jan Muhammad and his team for organizing this conference at long magnitude at Turbat University.
Dr. Abdul Khaliq Jan, VC Shaheed Benazir Bhutto University Sherringal, KP, said that we are living in an era of challenges and this conference is expected to come out with the solution of prevailing issues regarding SDGs. He said we are in collaboration to work with Turbat University in different fields of mutual interest.
Prof. Dr. Gul Hassan, Dean, Faculty of Legal Education, and chair of the conference welcomed and thanked the scholars, scientists, engineers, and guests for participating in the conference.
Apart from scholars of the University of Turbat, the scholars from other universities participated in the conference as well.
External scholars including Dr. Yar Jan Abdul Samad, University of Cambridge, Dr. Rodrigo Ledesma Amaro, Imperial College London, Dr. Huadong Peng, Technical University of Denmark, Dr. Mustafa Tuzen, Tokat Gaziosmanpasa University Turkey, Dr. Baboo Ali, Canakkale, Onsekiz Mart University, Turkey and other joined the conference online and presented research papers.

Major General Kamal Anwar, IG FC Balochistan South, Dr. Mansoor Ahmed, PVC UoT, Ganguzar Baloch, Registrar UoT, Deans, Directors, Heads of Academic and Administrative Departments and faculty members were also present on the occasion.
At the end of the conference, Lt. General Sarfraz Ali distributed the shields among the speakers and organizers. The UoT’s Vice-Chancellor also presented the commemorative shield to the chief guest of the closing ceremony.
