University of Turbat to Launch Awareness Drive on Drug Prevention

Brigadier Adnan Danish, Regional Directorate (RD), Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) Balochistan, visited the University of Turbat (UoT) on January 31, 2025. He was warmly welcomed by Prof. Dr. Abdul Saboor (TI), Dean of the Faculty of Literature and Languages, along with the Registrar, and other deans and directors.
During the meeting, they discussed the critical role of academia in supporting anti-drug campaigns, nurturing a safe academic environment, and educating students about the harmful effects of drug use. During the meeting, it was mutually agreed to organize an awareness seminar at UoT to inform students and faculty about the dangers of drug abuse and the importance of combating drug-related crimes.
Dr. Abdul Saboor reaffirmed the university's commitment to promoting drug-free environment through education and awareness. He highlighted the university’s ongoing efforts to promote a safe and healthy academic atmosphere while addressing the growing threat of drug abuse among youth.
Brigadier Adnan Danish shared ANF’s strategic initiatives in combating narcotics in the province. He outlined ANF’s efforts to reduce drug supply, dismantle trafficking networks, eradicate poppy cultivation, and disrupt illicit drug supply chains. He also commended UoT for its role in shaping the future of the region through quality education.
UoT’s Registrar, Mr. Ganguzar Baloch briefed the visitors on the university’s academic and infrastructural progress. The RD Commander also visited various university facilities, including computer laboratories, the library, and the gymnasium.
Dr. Abdul Saboor presented Brigadier Adnan Danish with a cultural painting and the university’s annual report, while the Brigadier reciprocated by presenting a souvenir to Dr. Abdul Saboor.
Several university officials were also present on the occasion, including Dr. Riaz Ahmed, Director, Quality Enhancement Cell, Dr. Abdul Majid Nasir, Controller of Examinations, Mr. Ijaz Ahmed, Director Public Relations, Mr. Shahid Essa, Chief Security Officer, Mr. Meer Bahad, Principal Staff Officer to the Vice-Chancellor, and Mr. Ghous Bakhsh, Campus Coordinator.
