Sports Week 2025 Begins with Enthusiasm at the University of Turbat

The Sports Week 2025 started at the University of Turbat (UoT) with an impressive opening ceremony held at the university's gymnasium on February 3. The event will continue until February 7, 2025. Throughout the week, in addition to male and female students from various departments, teams from the administration and faculty will also participate in a series of indoor and outdoor competitions, including cricket, football, futsal, volleyball, badminton, table tennis, chess, carom board, ludo, musical chairs, pick-up and run, a 5km endurance race, sack race, tug of war, darts, shoot foot, weightlifting, lemon spoon race, long jump, and other local and cultural games. providing an opportunity for participants to showcase their talent and sportsmanship.

The university’s Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Dr. Gul Hasan, graced the opening ceremony as the chief guest, accompanied by the Dean of the Faculty of Literature and Languages, Prof. Dr. Abdul Saboor (TI). 

Speaking on the occasion, the Vice-Chancellor Dr. Gul Hasan encouraged the students to actively participate in various sports competitions, emphasizing the importance of extracurricular activities in enhancing their academic experience. He reaffirmed the university's commitment to promoting sports activities and improving the physical well-being of students. 

Emphasizing the role of sports in academic life, Dr. Abdul Saboor highlighted how such activities promote teamwork, discipline, and physical fitness among students. He stated that Sports Week aims to cultivate a spirit of healthy competition and solidarity among students, contributing to their personal development and character-building.

The Vice-Chancellor commended the efforts of the Director Sports Mr. Mazhar Gichki, the organizing committee, volunteers, university administration, faculty members, and students for their dedication in maintaining the tradition of hosting Sports Week each year. He highlighted that as a result of these efforts, the university has been performing exceptionally well in various sports at the provincial level. He particularly praised the university's cricket team for their outstanding performance in the All Balochistan HEC Cricket Zone Event 2024, where they reached the final.

The opening ceremony was also attended by Dr. Tahir Hakeem, Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences, Dr. Adeel Ahmed, Dean of the Faculty of Business and Economics, Registrar Ganguzar Baloch, directors, heads of various academic and administrative departments, faculty members, administrative staff, and a large number of students.
