Turbat University’s Milestones: HEC Approves Launch of Two More MS/MPhil Programs from Spring 2026 Session

Turbat (November 4, 2025) The Quality Assurance Division (QAD) of the Higher Education Commission (HEC) has granted approval to the University of Turbat (UoT) to launch two more graduate programs including, the Master of Science (MS) in Economics, and the Master of Philosophy (MPhil) in Political Science, starting from the spring 2026 academic session. It was learned through two different notifications issued by HEC last month. 

According to the university spokesperson, the Vice Chancellor of the University of Turbat, Prof. Dr. Gul Hasan, along with the entire university community, lauded Dr. Adeel Ahmed, Dean, Faculty of Business and Economics. Dr. Muhammad Tahir Hakeem, Dean, Faculty of Social Sciences, Dr. Mohammad Yaqoob, Chairperson, Department of Economics, Mr. Changiz Ahmed, Chairman, Department of Political Science, Dr. Riaz Ahmed, Director, Quality Enhancement Cell (QEC), and the committed faculty members of the Department of Economics and Political Science for their efforts and commitment that led to these landmark achievements.

The Vice Chancellor said that these achievements are testament to the university's continued commitment to expand its graduate programs and research activities without compromising on the standard of quality. He reiterated that the University of Turbat is fully committed to strictly complying with the HEC Graduate Education Policy 2023 and all related guidelines for MS/MPhil and PhD programs to ensure standard of quality in its academic and research activities.

He emphasized that the newly approved graduate programs including MS in Economics and MPhil in Political Science will play vital role in promoting research-driven learning and producing highly skilled researchers capable of addressing economic and political challenges. The Vice Chancellor further stated that Turbat University will continue to align its research activities with the national socio-economic and political priorities of Pakistan.

The university spokesperson added that, in addition to thirteen graduate programs, including MBA, MS/MPhil, and PhD degrees in various disciplines, the University of Turbat is offering more than fifty undergraduate programs from the Spring 2026 session. These programs included BS, AD, and post AD (5th semester) as well as different undergraduate and graduate programs under the self-finance schemes. The schemes of study and course contents of these programs are aligned with modern technology, artificial intelligence, entrepreneurial skills, and the current as well as future needs of the job market.
