Turbat (November 30, 2025) The Department of Natural and Basic Sciences, University of Turbat (UoT), in collaboration with the Science Club, UoT, successfully organized a two-day workshop titled “Microbial Enzyme Discovery, Production and Immobilization” On November 24-25, 2025. A total of 50 undergraduate students participated in the training. The workshop aimed to enhance the laboratory competence of undergraduate students by providing hands-on experience in modern microbiological and enzymology techniques. The workshop was conducted by Dr. Haneef Ur Rehman, Associate Professor at the Department of Natural and Basic Sciences, who is known for his extensive expertise in enzymology, applied microbiology, and biocatalysis. During the workshop, students were trained in essential microbiological procedures, including sample collection, serial dilutions, sample inoculation, pure culture studies, microscopy, and Gram staining. The participants further learned enzyme screening methods, media preparation, enzyme assays, microbial enzyme production, and techniques for enzyme immobilization. The sessions were structured to include both theoretical lectures and practical laboratory work, allowing students to understand concepts and apply them directly during experiments.

At the closing session, certificates were distributed among all participants. Dr. Abdul Qayyum attended the ceremony as a special guest on behalf of Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Gul Hasan. He congratulated the students for completing the workshop and praised their enthusiasm and active participation. He also appreciated the efforts of Dr. Haneef Ur Rehman for conducting such productive and skill-enhancing activities for undergraduate students.

The workshop concluded with a commitment from the Department of Natural and Basic Sciences and Science Club to continue offering similar training opportunities aimed at equipping students with practical scientific knowledge and strengthening their research foundations.
