UoT BS Botany Students Launch Campus-Wide Plantation Drive

As part of their scheme of study, students of the BS Botany program, Department of Natural and Basic Sciences at the University of Turbat (UoT), launched a plantation campaign on campus on February 26, 2026.

The drive was inaugurated by the Pro Vice Chancellor, Dr. Kamal Ahmed, who planted a sapling on the university premises, followed by participating students. The event was attended by the Registrar, Ganguzar Baloch, Director, Office of Research, Innovation and Commercialization (ORIC), Dr. Muhamamd Yaseen, Director Public Relations, Ijaz Ahmed, faculty member Irshad Mayar, Incharge Botanical Garden, Shahid Essa, and a large number of students.

Under this initiative, each student planted a tree on the campus and committed to nurturing it throughout their academic tenure at the university as part of their course requirements.

Appreciating the efforts of the students and faculty of the Department of Natural and Basic Sciences, the Pro Vice Chancellor Dr. Kamal Ahmed remarked that the initiative reflects UoT students’ strong commitment to environmental sustainability and experiential learning. He stated that under the leadership of Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Gul Hasan, the University of Turbat is committed to maintaining a green and clean campus. Through initiatives such as the Prime Minister’s Green Youth Movement and other plantation drives, the University continues to actively contribute towards environmental sustainability carbon sequestration and the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). He said that such initiatives promote a strong sense of environmental responsibility among students and encourage the conservation and sustainable use of natural resources.
