Third Faculty Board Meeting of Social Sciences Faculty Approves Key Academic Reforms and Curriculum Updates at UoT

The third meeting of the Faculty Board of the Faculty of Social Sciences at the University of Turbat (UoT) was held on February 2, 2026, under the chairmanship of the Dean, Faculty of Social Sciences, Dr. Muhammad Tahir Hakim. The meeting deliberated on various academic and research matters and took several important decisions.

Addressing the participants, Dr. Muhammad Tahir Hakeem emphasized that, in light of contemporary demands and evolving market needs, it is imperative to incorporate practical skills in academic programs and align them with emerging national and global trends. He underscored the pivotal role of social sciences in addressing societal challenges, strengthening democratic institutions, promoting socio-economic development, and nurturing critical thinking and positive attitudes among students.
He further said that, in line with the directives of the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Dr. Gul Hasan, all academic programs within the Faculty of Social Sciences are being aligned with the guidelines of the Higher Education Commission (HEC) and contemporary academic standards to prepare better graduates for real-world challenges.

According to the University spokesperson, the meeting endorsed the decisions of the previous Faculty Board meeting and approved the minutes of the sixth meeting of the Departmental Board of Studies of the Department of Political Science, as well as the fourth meeting of the Department of Sociology.
In addition, revised and updated Schemes of Studies for MPhil, BS, and Associate Degree programs in Political Science were approved in accordance with HEC guidelines. The curriculum for the Associate Degree Program in International Relations was also approved with necessary contemporary updates.

The meeting was attended by the Head of the Department of Sociology, Dr. Muhammad Yaseen, the Head of the Department of Education, Dr. Mahnaz Aslam, the Head of the Department of Chemistry, Dr. Zafar Ali, the Head of the Department of Political Science, Mr. Changez Ahmed and Director Quality Enhancement Cell, Dr. Riaz Ahmed. Faculty members Dr. Muhammad Sharif Mir, Dr. Nooral Barakat, Dr. Muhammad Salim, Shah Hussain, and Ms. Atiya Aslam also participated in the meeting.
At the conclusion of the meeting, the Dean, Dr. Muhammad Tahir Hakeem, expressed his appreciation to all participants and remarked that, under the leadership of the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Dr. Gul Hasan, the University is introducing high-quality academic programs aligned with contemporary requirements, aimed at attracting students and meeting both national and international standards.
