Prime Minister’s Laptop Distribution Ceremony at UoT: Balochistan Ex-Chief Minister Dr Abdul Malik Baloch asked Higher Education Commission Islamabad for distribution of funds among universities on the basis of backwardness and need, instead of enrollment, so that the universities of least and scattered populace areas in Balochistan can have equal opportunity to develop itself and provide better higher education to the people at their door steps. He appreciated efforts of the Vice Chancellor and his team regarding timely completion of the UoT main campus project. He was speaking as chief guest on the occasion of laptop distribution ceremony among the UoT students under Prime Minister’s laptop scheme, held in University of Turbat on Friday, October 28, 2016. Speaking on the occasion he said CPEC is a big economic project and Turbat University is an important institution to produce human resource for CPEC. “Without advancement in hi tech and market based knowledge we cannot compete with rest of world in this era of wisdom and logic” Dr. Abdul Malik said, adding that establishing a sub campus of Turbat University at Gwadar is a big move toward spreading higher education in the region amidst 500 acre land has been recommended for University of Gwadar. In his welcome speech Vice Chancellor Turbat University Prof. Dr. Abdul Razzaq Sabir thanked the ex-Chief Minister, Governor Balochistan H.E Muhammad Khan Achakzai, chairman HEC Dr. Mukhtar Ahmed for taking keen interest in flourishing University of Turbat and extending unending support to set an environment for promotion of quality higher education in this far flung part of country, saying that UoT has established its sub campus at Gwadar and classes will be started in January next year. HEC representative Fida Hussain said Prime Minister’s Laptop Scheme is an incentive for students to promote research culture in higher learning institutions of the country in this era of technology and innovation. He said level of talent in Makran division was remarkable and they were second to none. 61 laptops under Prime Minister’s laptop scheme and 20 laptops given by governor Balochistan Muhammad Khan Achakzai, were distributed among talented and needy students of Turbat University during the ceremony. After the distribution of laptops IT Incharge and focal person for University of Turbat Mr.Abdul Hakeem was also present on the occasion giving instructions and guidance to the students regarding the Zong 3g Wingle devices and laptops. Mayor Municipal Corporation Qazi Ghulam Rasool, registrar UoT Dr Hanif Rahman, Controller examinations Tanvir Ahmed, Director Public Relations Ijaz Ahmed Baloch, HoDs, faculty members, high officials and a large number of students were also present on the occasion.
