UNIVERSITY OF TURBAT HOLDS SECOND SENATE MEETING

The second meeting of the Senate of Turbat University presided over by Prof Ghulam Rasool Khalid as convener (nominated by the Governor Balochistan and Chancellor Turbat University Muhammad Khan Achakzai) was held at university public Library on Saturday April 29, 2017. The meeting was attended by varsity Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Abdul Razzaque Sabir, Former Federal minister for education Zubaida Jalal, Dean faculty of Commerce, Law and Management Sciences Dr Munir Ahmed Gichki, Director QEC Dr Gul Hassan, former vice chancellor Uthal University Dr Abdul Hameed Bajwi, Registrar UoT Dr Hanif Rahman, Director Finance Ghulam Farooq, Prof Muhammad Usman, Prof Dr Munir Ahmed Gichki and other members of the university senate. Speaking on the occasion Prof Ghulam Rasool Khalid lauded the quick progress of the university in short span of time saying that ‘Turbat University is playing an important role for the promotion of higher education in this remote part of the country’. He said that under the patronage of Governor Balochistan Muhammad Khan Achakzai the growth of universities in province was accelerated with quality of higher education and modern facilities. Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Abdul Razzaq Sabir informed the senate about the success story and progress report of the university in the year 2016 saying that university has planned to introduce new programs of studies in near future and his institution was committed to take initiative for the promotion of academic and research culture in the university. Besides the matters related to development of Sub Campus of Turbat University at Gwadar, budget estimates for the years 2014-15 and 2015-16 and revised budget 2016-17and other matters were discussed and resolved during senate meeting. The varsity Senate has also approved the minutes of fifth selection board and appointment of the faculty and staff for sub campus of university at Gwadar and appointment of Professor and registrar at Balochi department and registrar for main campus respectively. After detail deliberations and discussion on several agenda items, various decisions were taken for academic development and financial stability of the university. Being the supreme body of university the senate has approved the annual reports of university for the year 2016. The house has also accorded approval of minutes of the meetings of various statuary bodies of the university held previously. After the meeting the members of the senate visited the newly built complex of the university where project director Manzoor Ahmed Baloch briefed the visitors about development of civil work.
