VC for more focus on research activities in Turbat University

Government of Balochistan (GOB) has awarded research grants to Higher Education Intuitions (HEIs) all around Baluchistan to support these institutions to undertake research focused on all scientific and socioeconomic issues.
University of Turbat (UOT) has also been recently awarded research grant to support research projects of the highest quality within all scientific fields. Utilizing the research grant awarded by GOB, UOT has established a research fund, namely University of Turbat Research Fund (UOTRF).
UOTRF is aimed at supporting research projects that make contributions to economic prosperity, provincial and local well being and to facilitate the academic and industrial linkages. Provision of UOTRF is expected to bring innovation and research culture in the region, and particularly University of Turbat’s performance in terms of ranking.
Office of Research, Innovation, and Commercialization (ORIC) at UOT under the leadership of Dr. Ghulam Jan launched UOTRF, and faculty members were called to submit their research proposals on or before 30th April 2021. All faculty members from all departments and campuses of UOT submitted 33 research projects that aimed to address scientific and socio-economic issues of Balochistan.
To evaluate the research projects submitted by the faculty members from all departments and all campuses, ORIC, UOT invited external evaluators (experts) to evaluate the research proposals.
Dr. Jamil Ahmed, Assistant Professor (Department of Management Sciences, University of Balochistan), Dr. Muhammad Aslam Buzdar (Associate Professor, Director ORIC, LUAWMS), Dr. Liaquat Channa (Associate Professor, Department of English, BUITEMS), Dr. Shahjehan Shabbir (Associate Professor, Department of Biotechnology, BUITEMS) and Dr. Zahid Rauf (Associate Professor, Deans Graduate Studies, BUITEMS) were nominated and invited as the external evaluators (experts) at UOT main Campus at Turbat on 7th and 8th June 2021 to evaluate the research projects.
The Worthy Vice Chancellor of UOT (Prof. Dr. Jan Muhammad) chaired the session, whereas Dr. Ghulam Jan (Director ORIC, UOT) moderated the overall session.
