University of Turbat organizes World Antimicrobial Resistance Awareness Day

The World Antimicrobial Resistance Awareness Day was organized at the University of Turbat (UoT) on 26th November 2021. The UoT’s Department of Natural and Basic Science hosted the event. The UoT’s vice-chancellor, prof. Dr. Jan Muhammad graced the occasion as chief guest. Speaking on the occasion, the vice-chancellor said that besides promoting quality education and research activities, the University of Turbat was also committed to fulfilling its social responsibilities for the betterment of society in general and its students in particular. He lauded the efforts of the students and faculty members of the Natural and Basic Science Department for organizing World Antimicrobial Resistance Awareness Day at the University of Turbat.
Highlighting the importance and purpose of the event, Chairperson Department of Natural and Basic Science, Dr. Rooh Ullah said that “World Antimicrobial Awareness Week is celebrated from 18-24 November every year and the aim of organizing this week at global level was to create awareness regarding antimicrobial and to encourage the best practices among the general public, health workers and policymakers in order to avoid the further emergence and spread of drug-resistant infections. He emphasized improving understanding of antimicrobial resistance through effective communication, education, and training workshops at the mass level. A poster-making competition on the theme of the week was also held on this occasion. The Yasir’s group from the BS 6th semester secured the first position while Mahnaz Kareem’s group from BS 8th semester and Jawairia Faqeer’s group from BS 4th semester shared the second position in the competition. The third position was secured by the Liga's group from BS 4th semester. Congratulating the position holders, the vice-chancellor, and faculty members exalted the creativity of students participating in the competition. The event was attended by the faculty members and students of the university.
