Interactive session on “The Role of Academia on Policy Process” held at UoT

An interactive session on “The Role of Academia on Policy Process” was collaboratively held by the Institute of Policy Studies (IPS), Islamabad, and the University of Turbat (UoT) on the 17th of May, 2022 in the video conference room of the UoT.
Speaking on the occasion, Khalid Rahman, Chairman IPS, underscored the importance of the role of academia in shaping public opinion and policymaking at the national level. He emphasized the need to increase communication between policy-makers and institutes of higher education, faculty members, and researchers. He said that he was very happy to see that Turbat University has grown rapidly in a small period of nine years.
In his closing remarks, Prof. Dr. Abdul Saboor Baloch, Dean faculty of Arts, Social Sciences, and Humanities thanked Chairman IPS for visiting Turbat University and conducting an interactive session with the faculty members and students of the University. At the end of the session, the Chairman IPS answered the questions asked by the faculty members and students. Assistant Professor Changiz Baloch played the role of moderator in the interactive session. Muhammad Wali Farooqi, Research Officer, IPS, UoT’s deans, heads of various departments, and students attended the interactive session.
The IPS also signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with UoT to promote collaboration between both institutes. Dr. Ghulam Jan, Director, Office of Research, Innovation, and Commercialization (ORIC), and Khalid Rahman, Chairman, IPS signed the documents in the presence of Prof. Dr. Jan Muhammad, Vice-Chancellor, University of Turbat, Prof. Dr. Abdul Saboor Baloch, Dean, Faculty of Arts, Social Sciences and Humanities, Changiz Baloch, Assistant Professor, Chakar Hyder, PSO to Vice-Chancellor, and Muhammad Wali Farooqi, Research Officer, IPS at the chamber of UoT’s Vice-Chancellor.
According to the documents, both institutes agreed to foster dialogue among scholars, experts, and policymakers. They also desired to offer joint certificate and diploma courses. Prof. Dr. Jan Muhammad, VC UoT presented the commemorative shield of the University to the Chairman IPS on this occasion.
