The event was also attended by heads of various academic departments, directors, faculty members, and a large number of students.
Lecturers Mr. Malik Dad and Mr. Zahoor Ahmed from UoT delivered presentations on skill development and entrepreneurship, emphasizing the importance of digital, creative, and communication skills, the use of online platforms for freelancing, IT skills development, and problem-solving abilities. Their presentations were followed by video clips related to the theme of the conference.
A prominent entrepreneur, Mr. Sohail Khan Bangash from the Pakistan Poverty Alleviation Fund (PPAF), shared his entrepreneurial journey, encouraging students to become job creators rather than job seekers. He provided an overview of PPAF’s initiatives and insisted on the importance of teaching youth how to be self-reliant. Addressing the students, he emphasized that entrepreneurship is a mindset, urging them to first change themselves to bring about societal change.
Dr. Ghulam Jan and Dr. Abdul Majid Nasir also spoke on the occasion, exploring new dimensions of entrepreneurship. They highlighted that entrepreneurship is not merely a subject but an attitude, encouraging the youth to think innovatively and showcase their creative talents in a competitive market.
Expressing his gratitude to the event organizers, students, faculty members, speakers, presenters, and distinguished guests, Dr. Mansoor Ahmed said that UoT’s administration, under the leadership of Prof. Dr. Jan Muhammad, was striving to provide extensive facilities such as 24/7 electricity and high-speed internet to enable students to enhance their entrepreneurial and creative skills, contributing to the socioeconomic development of the province and the country. He also informed that approximately 45% of UoT students are female, claiming it as a distinction of the university and a testament to the university’s commitment to gender inclusivity in higher education.
Responding to a request from students and the Pro Vice-Chancellor, Mir Hothman announced the establishment of a computer lab for students at UoT. During the Q&A session, Mir Hothman also pledged a seed amount of three hundred thousand rupees to support a student’s business venture based on her proposal. Dr. Muhammad Saleem, lecturer at the Economics Department, served as the event’s moderator.
In the end, the Pro Vice-Chancellor presented the university’s commemorative shield to the Guest of Honor and the keynote speaker.
