UoT's Computer Science Department Approves Modern Tech Courses to Drive Regional Digital Transformation

The fifth Board of Studies meeting of the Computer Science Department at the University of Turbat (UoT) was held on September 8, 2026, under the chairmanship of Engineer Bilal Ur Rehman, Chairperson of the Department.

The Board approved three new BS Computer Science specializations, including Data Science, Artificial Intelligence, and Cyber Security, in line with the HEC framework. It also recommended direct entry into the fifth semester for candidates holding a 14-year Associate Degree in Computing, and reviewed the Program/Course Learning Outcomes and curriculum as per HEC guidelines.
According to the University spokesperson, Vice Chancellor Dr. Gul Hasan said the university is rapidly transitioning to a modern, internationally aligned education system that will help graduates compete in the global job market. He added that under its Strategic Plan 2030, UoT aims to become the region's leading hub for high-tech education and digital innovation.

The meeting was attended by subject experts Prof. Dr. Waheed Noor from the University of Balochistan and Dr. Zakria from Sukkur IBA University, along with industry expert Mr. Usman Khan from AptechMedia, Peshawar, who joined online. Other members present included UoT QEC Director Dr. Riaz Ahmed, faculty member Balach Khan, Mr. Muhammad Yousaf Mujahid from Atta Shad Degree College, Turbat, and Ms. Gohar Aziz from Girls Degree College, Turbat.
