UoT’s Students Shine at the Regional Round of Pakistan University Debating Championship 2025

The students of the University of Turbat (UoT) secured second position in the English debate competition at the regional round of the Pakistan Universities Debating Championship 2025, held at the University of Balochistan on 26th February 2025.

The UoT’s winning team comprised Ms. Iqra Akbar and Ms. Tahira Assa from the Political Science Department and Ms. Mahal Ali Mohammad from the Education Department.
The chief guest, Dr. Zahoor Ahmed Bazai, Vice Chancellor of the University of Balochistan, presented a certificate, shield, and a cash prize of Rs. 80,000 to the winning team.
The Vice Chancellor of the University of Turbat, Prof. Dr. Gul Hassan, along with faculty members and administrative officers, extended heartfelt congratulations to the students on their remarkable achievement.
In his congratulatory message, Prof. Dr. Gul Hassan commended the students for their hard work, dedication, and determination, highlighting that their success is a testament to their exceptional talent. He said that the students of the University of Turbat possess the skills and potential to excel in every field of life.
The Urdu debate competition team, consisting of Ms. Honesa Muneer from the Chemistry Department, Ms. Sumaiya Afzal from the English Department, and Ms. Guljan Rashid from the Computer Science Department, also actively participated in the event.
A total of 13 universities from Balochistan took part in the event, organized by the Higher Education Commission, Regional Center, Quetta, at the auditorium of the University of Balochistan, Quetta.
The primary objective of the debating championship was to cultivate leadership qualities among students, encouraging them to think critically and handle pressure effectively in their professional lives.
