UoT Launches Spring Plantation Drive 2025 A Step Towards Green and Clean Campus

The Vice-Chancellor of the University of Turbat (UoT), Prof. Dr. Gul Hasan, inaugurated the Spring Plantation Drive 2025 by planting a tree in front of the administrative block of UoT on 28th February 2025. The event was organized by the faculty and students of the Botany program, Department of Natural and Basic Sciences, in collaboration with the university’s Green Youth Movement (GYM), reflecting UoT’s commitment to environmental conservation and sustainability.

Speaking on the occasion, Prof. Dr. Gul Hasan emphasized the pivotal role the University of Turbat plays in promoting a clean, green, and sustainable environment for its students, faculty, and staff. He highlighted that the plantation drive not only aims to enhance the beauty of the campus but also contributes to Pakistan’s national efforts to combat the adverse effects of climate change. The Vice-Chancellor encouraged all members of the university community, including students, faculty, and administrative staff, to actively participate in the plantation drive for safeguarding the environment for future generations.

Prof. Dr. Gul Hasan also instructed the relevant departments of the university to remain vigilant in maintaining the campus green and clean, ensuring that the planted trees receive proper care and attention. He reiterated that sustainable practices and environmental responsibility are integral to UoT's mission, aligning with the global movement towards a clean and healthy life on earth. The Vice-Chancellor said that the Spring Plantation Drive 2025 is a positive step towards promoting sustainability and addressing climate change that supports Pakistan's commitment to achieving the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Registrar Ganguzar Baloch, Chairperson of the Natural and Basic Science Department, Dr. Jahangir Khan Achakzai, faculty members, and students also planted trees on the occasion.

Dr. Jahangir Khan Achakzai said that as part of this plantation drive, each student will plant a tree within the university premises. This collective effort not only supports climate mitigation but also fosters biodiversity conservation and ecological restoration.
