UoT Chemistry Students Visit Makran Medical College to Explore Forensic Science Applications

BS students from the Chemistry Department, University of Turbat (UoT), led by the Department Chairperson, Zafar Ali, visited Makran Medical College (MMC) on November 18, 2025, to explore the practical applications of forensic chemistry in medicine and medico-legal investigations.

At MMC, Dr.Wasif, In-charge of the forensic medicine and toxicology Lab, briefed students on autopsy procedures, injury patterns, bullet trajectory analysis, poisoning cases, venom effects, and key post-mortem changes. He also explained the role of chemistry in road accident investigations, fracture analysis, fingerprinting, and DNA profiling. Students observed how medico-legal reports are prepared, from documenting evidence to interpreting results for legal use, gaining valuable insight into real-case forensic processes.

According to the University Spokesperson, UoT officials expressed their sincere gratitude to MMC Principal Dr. Muhammad Afzal Khaliq, Dr. Wasif, and Dr. Atta Ullah for their support and cooperation in facilitating the visit. They emphasized that such academic activities play a vital role in enriching students’ practical understanding and strengthening the link between scientific theory and real-world application.
