Turbat University Celebrates International Students’ Day with Seminar on Evolutionary Science

The University of Turbat (UoT) celebrated International Students' Day on November 17, 2025. In this connection, the Department of Natural and Basic Sciences organized a seminar on the classic evolutionary question, “Which came first, the egg or the chicken?” and explored its scientific explanation.
The University’s Vice Chancellor, Prof. Dr. Gul Hasan, Associate Professor Dr. Haneef Ur Rahman, and 2nd-semester students of the Biochemistry program, including Muhammad Haris, Jameel Nazeer, Gohar Liaqat, Nida Shahi, Lucky Phullan, and Mahliqa Majid, addressed the audience and shared their views on the occasion.
According to the university spokesperson, the speakers highlighted scientific perspectives, evolutionary evidence, and modern genetic findings related to this critical question. They provided an opportunity for participants to explore how scientific reasoning, evolutionary biology, and genetics help us to understand major transitions in the history of life.
Speaking on the occasion, the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Dr. Gul Hasan, praised the efforts of the faculty members and students for celebrating International Students’ Day with great enthusiasm and discipline. He appreciated their initiative in organizing an informative seminar on the theme of evolution, stating that such academic activities play a vital role in broadening students’ knowledge and intellectual curiosity. Dr. Haneef Ur Rahman encouraged the students to study various theories of evolution in depth and to actively engage in research. He emphasized that critical inquiry and scientific exploration are essential components of higher education.
The event was supervised by the Course Supervisor, Ms. Gul Afroz, and attended by Dr. Jahangair Khan, chairperson, Natural and Basic Sciences Department, Ijaz Ahmed, Director Public Relations, Mir Bahad, PSO to the Vice Chancellor, and faculty members Ms. Saba Adam, Ms. Mehnaz Kareem, Ms. Zameera Wahid, and Ms. Maria Noor, as well as a large number of students.
