Turbat University Syndicate Emphasizes Academic, Administrative, and Financial Reforms; Reaffirms Commitment to Merit and Transparency

The 16th meeting of the Syndicate of the University of Turbat (UoT) was held on May 16, 2026, under the chairmanship of Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Gul Hasan. The meeting made several important decisions aimed at further strengthening the University’s academic, administrative, and financial performance.

According to the University spokesperson, Syndicate members actively participated in the deliberations and presented valuable suggestions concerning institutional development, enhancement of financial resources, improvement of governance and administrative affairs, alignment of academic and research activities with international standards, and ensuring better opportunities and prospects for students.

The Syndicate reviewed the implementation status of decisions taken in previous meetings and endorsed the minutes of earlier sessions. Issues faced by students, faculty members, and administrative staff were discussed in detail, and various practical measures were proposed to address them effectively.

Addressing the meeting, the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Dr. Gul Hasan, stated that the University is implementing a comprehensive program aimed at enhancing the digital skills of students and youth in the region. He emphasized that merit and transparency would be strictly ensured in all academic and administrative matters, including appointments, transfers, postings, upgradations, and promotions.

He further stated that all decisions would be made in accordance with the University Act and prevailing service rules to further strengthen institutional governance and promote quality teaching and research activities, ultimately benefiting students.

The Vice Chancellor reiterated that strengthening institutional governance, ensuring financial transparency, and securing a bright future for students remain the University administration’s foremost priorities. He added that the University’s core purpose is to provide students with a quality educational environment and modern facilities to enable them to contribute effectively to national development.

During the meeting, Syndicate members expressed deep concern over the disappearance of the Vice Chancellor of the University of Gwadar, Prof. Dr. Abdul Razzaq Sabir, and his colleagues, and appealed for their safe release on humanitarian grounds.

The meeting also held detailed discussions on various administrative, financial, and policy matters, including the establishment of the University of Turbat Testing Service, the audit report for the financial year 2024-2025, approval of the revised budget for the financial year 2025-2026, and budget estimates for the financial year 2026-2027.

In addition, the Syndicate considered and resolved matters relating to the conversion of the University’s HBL account from conventional to Islamic banking, an agreement with 1Link for the collection of University fees, naming the new academic block after the late Engineer Shah Jahan Karim, formulation of SoPs for content publication on media platforms, and issues concerning mutual transfer and exchange of employees between the Area Study Centre of the University of Balochistan, Quetta, and the University of Turbat.
