Governor Mandokhail Chairs 10th Senate Meeting of Turbat University, Praises Academic Growth, Financial Discipline and New 5-Year Strategic Plan

The 10th Senate meeting of the University of Turbat (UoT) was convened on July 21, 2026, at the Governor House Quetta under the chairmanship of Governor Balochistan Sheikh Jaffar Khan Mandokhail.
The meeting was attended by Provincial Minister for Education Raheela Hameed Khan Durrani, UoT Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Gul Hasan, Pro-Vice Chancellor Dr. Kamal Ahmed, and other members of the Senate.
Addressing the forum, Governor Mandokhail lauded UoT’s rapid growth and performances, characterizing the institution as a premier seat of higher learning in the region. He particularly commended the university's milestone achievement of maintaining a student enrollment where female enrollment exceeds 50 percent, thereby distinguishing the institution among Pakistan's public universities. The Governor praised the exceptional progress in the Quality Enhancement Cell's (QEC) provisional scoring and its upcoming five-year strategic plan, calling them exemplary.
Underscoring the statutory weight of the university's apex body, the Governor remarked that the Senate holds an institutional authority equivalent to a government cabinet.
“As the supreme decision-making body of the university, compliance with the Senate's thoroughly deliberated decisions is mandatory. Respecting these decisions is fundamental to upholding the rule of law and institutional discipline," Governor Mandokhail emphasized.
During the session, the Senate formally endorsed the university's budget estimates for the fiscal year 2026-27 alongside the revised budget for 2025-26, characterizing the financial outlines as balanced, comprehensive, and fiscally realistic. The members highly praised the Vice Chancellor and his administrative and teaching staff for maintaining financial discipline and delivering quality education.
The Senate approved a series of agenda items, including the FY 2026-27 budget estimates and the revised FY 2025-26, revision of the honorarium for university Teaching Fellows, the audited financial statements for FY 2024-25, and UoT Strategic Plan 2026-2030. The august forum thoroughly deliberated the university's Promotion Policy.
Briefing the members on the academic roadmap, Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Gul Hasan emphasized that global higher education is changing rapidly because of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and advanced technologies, therefore, in alignment with the Higher Education Commission (HEC) guidelines, the university is executing a comprehensive review of its curriculum and degree frameworks. This update aims to replace outdated programs with practical, job-focused courses that prepare graduates for today's global tech market.
The Vice Chancellor concluded the session by extending his gratitude to Governor Mandokhail, the provincial government, and the Senate members for their persistent support in driving the university's developmental and academic growth.
