Landmark Academic Initiatives: Turbat University to Align Social Sciences with the AI Era and Market Needs

The fourth meeting of the Board of Faculty of Social Sciences, University of Turbat, was held on October 30, 2026, under the chairmanship of Dr. Muhammad Tahir Hakeem, Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences.
The meeting reviewed and resolved key proposals, including the incorporation of an Artificial Intelligence (AI) course into the curricula, the creating of a CSS Corner in the departmental library, and the establishment of a dedicated computer lab for students of ICT and AI courses.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Tahir Hakeem said that, under the leadership of Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Gul Hasan and with the support of the faculty members, every effort is being made to align university education with HEC guidelines and market needs.
According to the university spokesperson, the Vice Chancellor said in his message that the timely holding of the meeting reflects the university’s commitment to academic advancement. He emphasized the need to focus on emerging areas such as digital leadership, AI, teacher development, psychological well-being, and students’ digital and socio-emotional skills.
The meeting was attended by Dr. Nadil Shah, Chairman, Department of Sociology, Dr. Zafar Ali, Chairman, Department of Chemistry, Ms. Ruqia Mirwani, Chairperson, Department of Education, Mr. Changez Ahmed, Chairman, Department of Political Science, Dr. Muhammad Yaseen, Director ORIC, and faculty members Dr. Shareef Mir, Dr. Manzoor Ahmed, Dr. Muhammad Salim and Mr. Shah Hussain. Dr. Mahnaz Aslam joined the meeting online.
