Vice Chancellor's Message

It is my privilege to get this opportunity to lead one of the prestigious universities in the country as its 2nd Vice-Chancellor. The University of Turbat is known across the country for producing high-quality graduates and for its services to society. I am pleased to see that the University of Turbat has a great history of achievements in a short period under the leadership of its first & and founding Vice-Chancellor, Professor Dr. Abdul Razzaq Sabir. These achievements speak volumes of the sustained and tireless efforts of the faculty members and administrative staff. I will leave no stone unturned to move the University of Turbat to the heights of development with the support of faculty members and administrative staff for the betterment of students. I am grateful to the Honorable Governor of Balochistan for trusting me to further improve higher education standards in this remote part of the country and, overcoming all sorts of challenges faced by the university. I am fully determined to make certain efficient and transparent administration that functions under the University Act through the prescribed statutes, rules, and regulations.

It is a great strength of our university that several young faculty members are pursuing their PhD studies abroad and in Pakistan at various institutions of international repute. Some of them have rejoined the university and the rest of them will soon resume their responsibilities in UoT. Their rejoining will further strengthen the university in the field of higher learning and research.

With the help of highly qualified faculty members, competent staff, and talented students, we will take all steps possible to achieve many milestones in the near future. The favorable environment of the University towards learning will be enhanced and the youth of this region will be equipped with practical knowledge. Co-curricular activities will be promoted by involving students in healthy pursuits and competitions. Earnest efforts are underway to develop the human resources of the University. Organizing national and international conferences, seminars, and workshops in the University are part of our plan to provide a variety of experiences and training opportunities to the students, faculty, and admin staff for their capacity building. Our focus will also remain on good governance, efficient administration, excellence in teaching, high-quality research, innovation, and community services as strategic priorities for the university. It is my highest target to make the University of Turbat a leading institution of higher learning in Pakistan soon. For this purpose, we will further strengthen its existing linkages with other academic institutions and industries and promote collaborations and partnerships with government bodies, other universities, and institutions in the country and abroad.

As students are the key stakeholders of the university, I will make the University ‘student-focused’ and ensure the provision of all necessary facilities to students’ academic and administrative staff. We are all here to polish the talent of our students and to help them use their strengths to become more energetic contributors to the development and prosperity of society. I am confident that our students will uphold the highest standards of academic excellence and their association with UoT is a ceaseless bond that we cherish every day.

I am sure that with the commitment of my colleagues and the support of the Federal and Provincial Government, HEC, Governor Balochistan, and public representatives of the area, the University of Turbat will become a paragon of excellence by becoming one of the top-ranked universities in Pakistan.

I believe that every individual has the potential to play a significant role in the development of the university and I request all stakeholders of the university to please come forward for its further development.

Professor Dr. Jan Muhammad

Vice Chancellor University Of Turbat
