PM inaugurates University of Gwadar: In inaugural ceremony of many projects, Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif also inaugurated University of Gwadar here on Saturday September 1, 2016 at Gwadar. Addressing a gathering after inaugurating string of development projects, Prime Minister said that the Gwadar port was his dream and he was pleased to witness its development as an international city. He hoped Gwadar would soon emerge as one of the most prosperous cities in the country. Mr. Sharif said Gwadar was the central point of focus in the China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) project. The port city, he added, would have a positive impact not only on Balochistan, but the whole country. Balochistan Chief Minister Nawab Sanaullah Khan Zehri, Minister for Port and Shipping Mir Hasil Khan Bezinjo and Chinese Ambassador to Pakistan Sun Wiedong also spoke on the occasion. Governor Balochistan Muhammad Khan Achakzai, Chairman HEC Dr. Mukhtar Ahmed and Vice Chancellor University of Turbat were also present on this occasion. Meanwhile talking to PTV, the VC UoT said the main objective of University of Gwadar is to provide better opportunities for higher education to the students of Gwadar and adjoining districts as well as other areas of Balochistan; in order to cope them up with technological and academic development of port city which is being planned to developed as a mega city. Vice Chancellor said despite establishing its Sub Campus at Gawadar at initial stage, University of Turbat has also been assigned the task by Higher Education Commission Pakistan to prepare a PC-1 of a full fledge University of Gwadar and submit the Charter of University of Gwadar to concern forums for approval.
