Role of women in promoting education lauded

The International Women’s Day was celebrated in Gwadar campus of Turbat University on 8th March 2019. Ms Uzra Abbas a Karachi based renowned writer and poetess, Chief Editor Urdu Dictionary Board Aqeel Abbas Jafry, Gwadar campus director Ijaz Ahmed, faculty members and students spoke at this occasion to mark the day. The speakers highlighted the role of women in development of the country.
The speakers in their speeches asked for implementing the legislation protecting rights of the women and called for women’s empowerment. They urged for increased role of women in different spheres of life.
“I am glad to see a good number of female students in Gwadar campus which is very encouraging for future generation,” said Uzra Abbas. She also shared her success story with the participants and said that it is hard to get success without struggle and acquiring education with determination and fervor. She encouraged the female students for writing poetry, short story and novel.
Aqeel Abbas Jafry said women deserve to be treated equally at all levels where the merit of talent remains the same for both. He also highlighted the role of women in promoting Urdu as national language.
While welcoming the guests on behalf of vice chancellor Prof Dr. Abdul Razzaq Sabir the Campus Director Ijaz Ahmed informed the visitors and participants regarding the achievements earned by the female students of UoT Gwadar campus at provincial and national level in short span of two years. He lauded the role of Federal Minister Ms Zubaida Jalal in promoting education in this part of the country. Meanwhile director campus presented shield to the visitor. At the end of the program the female students had an interactive session with Ms Uzra Abbas where she responded the questions asked by the students.
