Cultural Heritage of Gwadar need to be preserved, VC UoT

The vice chancellor University of Turbat has said that the provincial government should take concrete steps for the preservation of cultural heritage of Balochistan and Gwadar. Speaking at the occasion of a penal discussion on “History and Preservation of Cultural Heritage of Gwadar” held on 9th March during Gwadar Book Festival 2019 VC UoT said that government should form an active group of archeologists and academia to undertake archeological survey of the province, preservation of archaeological sites, establishment of museums and promotion of tourism in the province. Other panelists which include Dr. Kaleem Lashari Chairman Management Board of Antiquities Sindh, Dr. Noman Ahmed Dean Architecture Department at NED Karachi, Dr Hafeez Jamali Anthropologist and Dr. Sajjad Hussain DG (GDA) said that rich Cultural Heritage sites exist in Balochistan which need to be preserved. Abdul Rahim Baloch was the moderator of the penal discussion. Latter on the VC UoT along with Campus Director and representatives of RCDC Gwadar visited different historical and archeological sites exist in Gwadar city.
Earlier the launching ceremony of the prominent author and registrar UoT Ghulam Farooq’s Book “Chamma Andreen Mahlok” was also held on 7th March during festival. Abdullah Baloch ex director Balochistan Arts Council graced the ceremony as chief guest. Besides author, Tahir Hakeem Assistant Professor IBLC UoT and Qadeer Luqman deputy director Social Welfare Department shared their views on the book.
Meanwhile the artist band of UoT Gwadar campus also performed a stage show on the theme “the women are not less than anyone” in connection with international women day on 8th March in Gwadar Book Festival. The performance of the students were highly appreciated by the audience. Teaching Assistance at Gwadar campus Ms. Mahira Khan supervised the event.
It was the 6th edition of Gwadar Book Festival 2019 held under the patronage of the RCDC Gwadar in collaboration with UoT Gwadar campus and other organizations which continued from 7th to 10th of March 2019 at RCDC Gwadar. CM Balochistan Jam Kamal Khan graced the closing day of the festival as chief guest while Federal Minister for Defense Production Ms Zudaida Jalal, Provincial Minister for Information and Higher Education Mr. Zahoor Ahmed Buledi, MPA Mahjabeen Sheran, Syed Ihsan Shah, Provincial Ministers, RCDC president Sir Khuda Bakhsh Hashim, Nasir Rahim Sohrabi, officers from armed and civil forces, departmental heads, director Gwadar Campus Ijaz Ahmed and large number of people also attended the closing day ceremony of the Festival.
