UoT Successfully Conducts Second Convocation

The University of Turbat (UoT) achieved another milestone by conducting its 2nd Convocation on 22nd April 2019 in Multipurpose Hall of University’s main campus Turbat. The Governor Balochistan/ Chancellor UoT Justice (R) Amanullah Khan Yasinzai graced the convocation ceremony as chief guest. While Provincial Minister for Higher Education and Information attended the ceremony as guest of honor and the convocation was presided over by the varsity’s Vice Chancellor prof. Dr. Abdul Razzaq Sabir.

Addressing on the occasion the Governor Balochistan Justice (R) Amanullah Khan Yasinzai said that the future of University of Turbat was very bright and the increasing trends of acquiring education in females in Mekran will provide strong base to the development process in this region. He said the present government was fully committed to support and strengthen the Higher Education Institutions in Balochistan. Justice (R) Amanullah Khan Yasinzai said to the students ‘’your accomplishments should be source of pride for you, your university, your province, and indeed your country. It is a matter of great pleasure to see that Turbat University has been at the frontline in efforts to provide quality education and creating new vistas of knowledge for the people of region.” He further added that it was great achievement by University of Turbat to conduct its 2nd convocation in short period of time.

The Governor Balochistan awarded degrees to more than 300 graduating students including 7 M.Phil (Balochi). He also awarded gold medals to 22 position holders.

Besides university’s faculty members, admin staff, deans, directors, chairpersons and UoT Senate members, the convocation ceremony was also attended by Senator Dr. Jahanzeb Jamaldini, Senator Kahuda Akram Dashti, former provincial minister Rahmat Saleh, political representatives, students and their parents, MPA Mahjabeen Sheeran, ex-senator Dr. Ismail Buledi, Dr. Badal Khan, Dr. Noor Baloch, Commissioner Makran Division Tariq Zehri, DC Kech Zeshan Sikandar, DPO kech Hussain Lehri. Waja Abul Hassan, Mir Hamal Baloch, Shai Nazeer Ahmed, Qazi Noor Ahmed, Haji Sher Muhammad Jusaki, Advocate Jadeen Dashti, Qasim Gajezai, educationists, Journalists and people from civil society.

Justice (R) Amanullah Khan Yasinzai appreciated the role of UoT in providing best facilities of acquiring quality higher education to the people of Mekran and rest of the province. He said that establishment of Turbat University is the ample opportunity for the students of the region to come forward and seek up to date knowledge in this august institution so that they can meet the challenges of the modern age.

Congratulating the graduating students and their proud parents, Minister for Higher Education and Information Zahoor Ahmed Buledi said that they felt a lot of pride in being the part of this historical day of 2nd convocation of Turbat University. He said the CM Jam Kamal Khan led provincial government was paying special attention in promotion education in Balochistan. Zahoor Buledi said sub campuses have been established in Gwadar and Dera Murad Jamali and soon they will be transformed into full-fledged university.

Acknowledging untiring services of Vice Chancellor Prof Dr. Abdul Razzaq Sabir, faculty members and administrative staff, he said that renowned scholar Prof Dr Badal Khan and all political leaders of the region were committed to the development of Turbat University.
He thanked Governor Balochistan on behalf of people of Turbat for gracing convocation ceremony and his interest in developing UoT.

In his welcome speech vice chancellor Prof Dr Abdul Razzaq Sabir said “it is a day of devotion to the education, day of revolution in bringing change in the lives of several graduates, a day of convocation to reward who deserve.” He said this day marked a sign of victory in the history of UoT achieved by the everlasting efforts made by the supremely qualified faculty members and committed administrative staff consequently the Turbat University earned a distinguished place in the country’s best growing universities in short period of time. Besides promoting higher education in this remote area of the country Dr. Sabir said the main purpose of establishing UoT was to enhance a culture of research and entrepreneurship, to advance innovation and research in the areas of sciences, technology, business, legal education and Arts and Humanities. He said that his institution was working on different programs to further enhance the quality of education in UoT with the support of HEC, Federal and Provincial governments. VC said that the sub campus of Turbat University is working successfully in Gwadar and they have planned to set up another campus in Panjgur.
