Lecture sessions under ORIC, youth’s role in uplift discussed

Education experts stressed the need for utilizing young generation’s potentials for the socio-economic development of the country. Panelists from diverse background stated this during lecture programmes held in University of Turbat (UoT) on alternate days. The programmes, part of lecture series, were organized by UoT’s Office of Research, Innovation and Commercialization (ORIC).

“Opportunities exist all around the world. But the only thing needed is that we should have the strong will to move forward for exploring and capitalizing on these opportunities,” said Wells Fargo & Company Senior Engagement Manager Dr. Mansoor Baloch during a lecture session on “ Human Capacity Development and Role of United Nation’s Sustainable Development Goals in Developing countries” held on 30th January 2020 in UoT.

During another lecture program on 31st January 2020, an economist and motivational speaker from Karachi Schools of Business and Leadership Dr. Sikandar Bezinjo shared his views on “Role of Youth in Socio-economic Development of Pakistan”. Faculty members and students from different departments also attended the sessions.

During interactive sessions with students and faculty, the education experts also responded the questions raised by the participants on the importance of critical thinking, innovation and entrepreneurship in this information age.

Dr. Sikandar Bezinjo inspired the youth to become job creators rather than job seekers. He insisted on capacity building of UoT’s students in the field of Entrepreneurship, identifying and resolving social and economic issues for making self and nation’s future brighter.

During meeting with UoT’s Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Abdul Razzaq Sabir the guest speakers acknowledged the joint efforts of the UoT’s administration, faculty members and students for maintaining infrastructural and academic excellence in the institution and promoting conducive environment for the further growth of the university.

UoT’s Vice Chancellor Prof Dr. Abdul Rzzaq Sabir informed them that his administration was working on a comprehensive plan to develop linkages with foreign and country’s best universities and prominent research scholars for exchange of academic information and research materials. VC thanked Dr. Mansoor Baloch and Dr. Sikandar Bezinjo for conducting interactive sessions with UoT’s students and faculty, and for their offer for encompassing collaboration in promoting quality research and education in the university.

On the occasion, ORIC’s Director Dr. Haneef Ur Rahman said that the nationally and internationally renowned scholars were being invited in UoT to interact with university’s faculty and students. He said that efforts were underway for encompassing all the research activities from development of research proposal to the commercialization of research products under the ORIC.

UoT’s Director Quality Enhancement Cell (QEC) and Dean Faculty of legal education Prof. Dr. Gul Hassan, UoT’s Director Gwadar Campus and Linkages Ijaz Ahmed, PSO to Vice Chancellor Bilal Ur Rahman and Protocol Officer Meer Bahad Baloch were also present on this occasion.

Dr Mansoor Baloch a research scholar from a village Godi-Solband of District Kech had done his Ph.D. in Environmental Engineering from Istanbul Technical University Turkey, now associated with Wells Fargo & Company in the United States as a Senior Engagement Manager. He is also the founder of ENCLUDE Network, a Startup not-for-profit firm.
