IBLC UoT Organized One Day Seminar

The Vice-Chancellor (VC) of the University of Turbat (UoT) Prof. Dr. Jan Muhammad has said that “the translation is instrumental for inter-lingual transfer and intercultural communication. It is necessary for effective and comprehensive communication between different cultures, civilizations, and languages.” He expressed these views while inaugurating a one-day seminar on “Importance of Translation in Promoting Language and Literature” organized by the Center for Translation, Institute of Balochi Language and Culture (IBLC) the University of Turbat on 25th October 2021.
Appreciating the role of IBLC in prompting Balochi Language and Culture, he said that translation was imperative in this multi-lingual world because it facilitates us to interconnect and understand each other’s views, ideas, literature, technology, inventions, and research works without having to learn a second language. The Vice-Chancellor assured to facilitate IBLC in every way possible in organizing national seminars in the future and translating Balochi literature into other languages and vice versa. He also emphasized taking necessary and practical steps for the progression of the regional languages of the country. VC said that teaching in the mother tongue by the government in educational institutions can produce positive results.
In his welcome address, the Director IBLC and Dean Faculty of Arts, Social Sciences and Humanities Prof. Dr. Abdul Saboor Baloch threw light on the objectives of the seminar. He also underscored the ongoing projects and future plans of the institute in promoting Balochi Language and culture. He also thanked speakers, writers, researchers, and other guests for participating in the seminar. Researchers came from Balochistan and across Pakistan including Assistant Prof. Balochi Department University of Balochistan Quetta, Dr. Rahim Meher, Assistant Prof. Balochi Department University of Balochistan, Dr. AR Dad, Deputy Director National Language Promotion Department Islamabad, Mehboob Bugti, General Secretary Balochi Academy Quetta Dr. Bezan Saba, Lecturer Atta Shad Degree College Turbat Fazal Baloch, Lecturer Balochi Department University of Karachi Sharaf Shad, Assistant professors from IBLC Dr. Tahir Hakeem, Dr. Abdul Ghafoor Shad, Aqeel Ahmed, and Tariq Rahim presented their research papers in the seminar. Besides faculty members and students of the University of Turbat, the seminar was also attended by the writers, poets, researchers, teachers, and students from different colleges and institutes. Zahida Mehrab performed the responsibilities as stage secretary. At the end of the seminar, the Vice-Chancellor and Director IBLC distributed shields and certificates among speakers and organizers.
