Students of Computer Science Department presents Final Year Project

Posted on 10 Dec, 2021

As per the requirement of BS, final year students highlighted some real-world problems and worked on their projects throughout the year. There were three groups, and each of them fulfilled the requirements and presented their proposed solution.

The projects were listed as

  • Home Automation System
  • Solar Tracking system
  • Library Management System

Home Automation System

Conventional wall switches located in different parts of the house are difficult to be dealt with. Especially it’s hard for elderly or physically handicapped people. Internet of Things (LoT) is among the newest trends in Information Technology (IT). By using the concept of IoT, students implemented a Home Automation System. A remote-controlled home automation system provides a most modern solution with smartphones. Wi-Fi module is interfaced to the microcontroller at the receiver end and on the transmitter end, a smartphone application (Blynk) is used to send ON/OFF commands to the receiver where electrical appliances are connected. By using the Blynk application, the home appliances can be turned ON/OFF remotely and electrical power can be saved.

Solar Tracking System

Secondly, Solar Tracking System was proposed as the solution to automate the usage of Solar Systems. On the basis of the data gathered by the survey, Students highlighted a problem being faced in local areas and worked on a project to automate the rotation of solar panels according to the movement of the sun. Dual-axis Solar Tracking System is used which has two degrees of freedom. First, one automated the rotation of the solar panel according to the movement of the sun, and the second one allows it to know the direction of the sun that changes seasonally. The Solar Tracking System can be implemented at home, small offices, shops, schools, or anywhere where solar panels are required. A solar tracker can be fixed on a roof or on a plane surface where a panel can

rotate at 180 degree from east to west and 25 degree from north to south.

Library Management System

The third project was Library Management System which was presented as the proposed solution or Library. Students visited Library to analyze the domain, highlight the key steps required to automate the tasks of the library, and document them as the functional requirements of their system. They developed a Library Management System to eliminate the manual work of the library. Their system had the features like adding, editing and deleting users and books. It has the feature of searching, issuing, and returning books and maintaining the data accordingly.
