The Mobile Laboratory, also known as the 'Lab on Wheels,' was operationalized at the University of Turbat (UoT) on September 13, 2023. This initiative was launched by the University of Turbat in collaboration with the Virtual University (VU) of Pakistan to enhance academic excellence and research advancement at UoT. The purpose of this Mobile Lab is to engage the students of the Natural and Basic Sciences and Chemistry Department of UoT in hands-on scientific laboratory activities, bridging the gap between theory and practical knowledge in their respective fields.
Dr. Mansoor Ahmed, Pro Vice-Chancellor (PVC) of UoT along with Dr. Gul Hasan, Dean of the Faculty of Legal Education inaugurated the Mobile Laboratory in the presence of representatives from Virtual University, UoT's Registrar, Deans, Directors, Heads of various Departments, Faculty Members, Administrative Staff, and Students of UoT. PVC requested the Registrar of the Virtual University to extend this hands-on practical opportunity to UoT’s science students every semester.
Speaking on the occasion, the PVC stated that this pioneering initiative would provide science students at UoT with ample opportunities to apply their theoretical knowledge through practical experimentation. Extending gratitude to Prof. Dr. Saleem Bhatti, Rector of the Virtual University of Pakistan, UoT’s PVC expressed deep appreciation for the collaborative efforts between the University of Turbat and Virtual University that would help enhance scientific education and laboratory work at UoT.
Dr. Muhsin Javed, the registrar of Virtual University, shed light on the history and motives of this Mobile Laboratory, highlighting that it was brought to UoT in response to an invitation from Prof. Dr. Jan Muhammad, VC UoT. He mentioned that the Lab on Wheels is equipped with advanced scientific instruments and chemicals, prepared for students to perform practical experiments in their respective study programs.
