Vice Chancellor inaugurates second part of tree plantation drive of phase II of UoT Project

The University of Turbat’s Vice Chancellor, Prof. Dr. Jan Muhammad inaugurated the second part of the tree plantation drive of phase II of the University of Turbat Development Project on December 11, 2023.

The Vice-Chancellor planted an English Rose in the University’s Botanical Garden to mark the initiative. The drive is arranged and supervised by the Department of Water and Plantation of the university. The drive is the part of PM Green Program funded through the Higher Education Commission (HEC), in UoT phase II of the development project.

Sharing views on this occasion, VC Prof. Dr. Jan Muhammad said that this drive will help to maintain a clean, green, and pollution-free campus.  He said that the University of Turbat is committed to actively contributing to national efforts addressing the challenges of climate change. VC UoT thanked HEC for extending its continuous support to UoT.

Mr. Shah Hussain, the In-charge of the Water and Plantation Department briefed the Vice Chancellor about the progress of his section, informing that over 3000 plants and trees have already been planted in the university. The ongoing phase of the plantation drive aims to plant approximately 700 diverse plant and tree species in the university.

The Vice-Chancellor also visited the lemon garden, botanical garden, and mixed fruit garden of the university and appreciated the efforts of the In-charge Water and Plantation Department for maintaining the green areas of the university.
