Turbat University Reaffirms Commitment to SDGs Through Climate-Friendly Initiatives

The Progressive Climate Foundation (PCF), in collaboration with the Green Youth Movement (GYM) Club under the Directorate of Student Affairs at the University of Turbat (UoT), organized an awareness session on climate change, water and sanitation, and waste management, followed by a tree plantation drive at UoT on August 27, 2025.

Students and faculty actively participated in the event. Keynote speakers, including Jeand Baloch, Focal Person, GYM Club, Iqra Latif, District Coordinator, PCF, Sharaf Abdul Majeed, Member, PCF, Saddo Ahmed Ali, Captain, GYM Club, and Fahad Shabir, Vice-Captain, GYM Club, emphasized the urgent need for youth-led climate action and the adoption of eco-friendly practices.

The initiative not only raised awareness but also empowered students to take leadership roles in shaping a green and climate-resilient future. The session concluded with a tree plantation activity on campus, symbolizing UoT’s commitment to environmental sustainability.

The Vice Chancellor of the University of Turbat, Dr. Gul Hasan, praised the efforts of Chakar Hyder, Director of Student Affairs, Jeand Baloch, Focal Person of the GYM Club, their dedicated teams, representatives of the Progressive Climate Foundation, and the resource persons for successfully organizing a climate-friendly event at UoT.

He emphasized that hosting such initiatives reflects the University’s strong commitment not only to its national responsibilities but also to contributing toward the country’s commitment to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Dr. Gul Hasan further stated that the University of Turbat will continue to encourage and support programs that engage youth in environmental stewardship, promote sustainable practices, and contribute to building a greener and climate-resilient society.
