Sociology Students’ Research Project Explores the Changing Face of Society

Final-year students from the Department of Sociology at the University of Turbat (UoT) successfully presented and defended their research theses before a panel of distinguished examiners. The evaluation committee included Dr. Muhammad Tahir Hakeem, Dean, Faculty of Social Sciences, Dr. Muhammad Yaseen, Chairman, Sociology Department, Associate Professor Dr. Haneef ur Rehman, and Assistant Professor Dr. Abdul Rauf.

The theses covered a diverse range of critical sociological issues, such as the impact of modernization on marriage trends, women's representation in Balochi folktales, political socialization among students, marital endogamy, polygamous marriages, women's socioeconomic roles in the embroidery industry, globalization's effects on traditional values, the portrayal of women on social media, and gender roles in Balochi cinema. These studies are expected to play a pivotal role in addressing contemporary social challenges in the region.
Dr. Muhammad Yaseen expressed satisfaction with the quality of the research and commended the students for their hard work and dedication. He said that under the dynamic leadership of the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Dr. Gul Hasan, the University of Turbat, continues to advance higher education in Balochistan, equipping graduates with the knowledge and tools necessary to drive positive societal change.
