Students of Natural and Basic Sciences Visit DHQ Hospital Turbat for Practical Learning

Students from the Department of Natural and Basic Sciences at the University of Turbat conducted an educational visit to the District Headquarters (DHQ) Hospital Turbat on April 25, 2026, as part of their academic exposure and practical learning activities.

During the visit, students were given a detailed overview of the hospital’s COVID-19 and PCR laboratory facilities. They were briefed on standard laboratory protocols, biosafety measures, and modern diagnostic procedures, including PCR techniques and GeneXpert technology. The session provided valuable insights into the functioning of advanced clinical diagnostic systems.

Accirding to the University spokesperson, the visit was supervised by Dr. Haneef Ur Rehman, Dean, Faculty of Science, Engineering and IT, who was accompanied by head of department Dr. Jahangir Khan and faculty member Mr. Jeand Ibrahim. Students actively engaged with the laboratory processes and gained hands-on understanding of contemporary diagnostic tools used in clinical settings.

According to University spokesperson, Dr. Haneef Ur Rehman also held a meeting with Dr. Waheed Buledi, Medical Superintendent (MS) of DHQ Hospital Turbat. The discussion focused on strengthening academic and institutional collaboration between the university and the hospital, particularly in the areas of clinical training and applied medical sciences.

Dr. Waheed Buledi assured to facilitate University student with internship opportunities in the hospital’s laboratories to enhance their practical experience in real clinical environments. Furthermore, it was mutually agreed to work towards launching a Medical Laboratory Technology (MLT) diploma program as a joint initiative involving DHQ Hospital Turbat, Makran Medical College, and the Faculty of Science, Engineering and IT.

According to the university spokesperson, the University of Turbat, under the leadership of Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Gul Hasan, is making every possible effort to provide students with meaningful practical learning opportunities, including hands-on training, field exposure, and industry-academia linkages to complement classroom teaching. These efforts reflect the university’s commitment to enhancing the quality of education and preparing graduates who are both knowledgeable and practically competent.
