Governor Balochistan chairs first convocation of Turbat University: The 1st Convocation of the University of Turbat was held here on Wednesday, March 8, 2017 at newly built University Campus. Governor Balochistan and Chancellor University of Turbat Muhammad Khan Achakzai presided over the 1st convocation in which 220 graduates were conferred degrees and 12 position-winning graduates were also awarded gold medals. He also awarded certificate of appreciation to the research scholars of the university who have completed their MS/Master degree in or abroad. Addressing the convocation, the Governor Balochistan Muhammad Khan Achakzai congratulated the graduating students, their parents on getting degrees and medals and said that it is now their turn to pay back to the society and contribute to the nation building and development. He said “holding first convocation for any university would be historical day and I’m proud to chair the first convocation of Turbat University”. He urged the students to join their respective professions to serve the society and humanity. He lauded the progress achieved by the Turbat University in short time and positioned itself among fast growing universities in Pakistan. He assured that government of Balochistan was committed to ensuring quality education and raising education standard in Balochistan as a top priority. the Chancellor said that the coastal Mekran is the economic hub of Pakistan and we all should work jointly for achieving our national priorities, adding that the female gradates of Mekran are second to none in term of talent in all spheres of life including education, if they keep on learning knowledge they would touch the sky adding. The guest of honor of the convocation ex-chief minister Balochistan Dr Abdul Malik Baloch has said “education is essential for development and prosperity of any nation”. He was hopeful that pass out graduates of Turbat University would be provided opportunity to play their role in the on-going development activities of CPEC in the region. He urged on the youth not to stop here and go for M.Phil and Ph.D and to focus on education for the development of the province in particular and for country in general to bring positive change in the society. He announced a grant of Rs 30m to buy laptop for pass out graduates and for other missing facilities. Presenting wholehearted welcome address, Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Abdul Razzaq Sabir spoke about the academics, research, development, extension and future plan of the university. He said that with a history of just three and half years of excellence, Turbat University is now all set to position among the lane of fast developing universities of the country. Vice Chancellor said that his institution was swiftly achieving the milestones and developing talent by using its knowledge, resources and skills for growth of human resources in this far flung area of the country.
