Business Gala 2018 in UoT Gwadar Campus

Two-day Business Gala was organized by the department of Management Sciences and Commerce in collaboration with Office of the Research, Innovation and Commercialization (ORIC) at UoT Gwadar Campus from November 29-30 in an effort to promote innovation among students and help them discover substitute employment opportunities and to become job provider rather than a job seeker.

UoT VC Prof Dr. Abdul Razzaq Sabir along with Commander West Pak Navy Commodore Syed Faisal Ali Shah and Chairman GPA Dostein Khan Jamaldini inaugurated the Business Gala.

The opening ceremony was also attended by Chairman Municipal Corporation Gwadar Abid Sohrabi, QEC Director Prof Dr. Gul Hassan, faculty members of Gwadar Campus, Controller Examinations Tanvir Ahmed, Director Gwadar Campus Ijaz Ahmed, Regional Director AIOU Majid Hussain, GPA Director General Admin Munir Jan Baloch, Director General Finance Shafeh Baloch, heads and teachers of different educational institutions, media persons and notables.

Chairman Commerce department UoT Essa Kareem and Assistant Director GDA Zakir Majeed were among the jury.
Vice chancellor along with guests visited different stalls and appreciated the efforts of the students. VC along with guests congratulated campus management, Gala in-charge Mr. Mujahid Hussain and his team, faculty members and students for organizing a unique kind of edutainment event with the support of people of Gwadar terming it is an academically professional activity which mirrors the student’s career with aspirations.

Talking at the occasion Dr. Sabir said that it is the 1st business Gala at Gwadar campus which will leave exceptionally positive impression on society and promote innovative thoughts towards education in the educational institutions.
“The massive participation with keen interest of the audience in this edutainment event inspired the organizers to expand the frequency and variations of this dynamic festival next year with the support of other institutions working in Gwadar. “said VC.

Appreciating the efforts of Gwadar campus, Chairman GPA Dostein Khan Jamaldini said that students should not be restricted to classroom rather they should be involved in multidimensional activities for their capacity building of the students, and adding that this event will help to enhance the professional skills of the students so that they can learn in a practical environment and they will be able to develop innovative ideas to start their own small businesses.

Commander West Pak Navy Syed Faisal Ali Shah said that this business gala reflects that the students of Gwadar campus are multitalented and they are second to none in all walks of life. He assured to cooperate in the efforts to bring about University campus in the lane of country’s best institutions of higher learning.

Director Gwadar campus Ijaz Ahmed thanked the guests and visitors for their supports and making the event successful.
Addressing at the closing ceremony Chairman Gwadar Municipal Corporation Abid Sohrabi said such events are very important to introduce new experiences to the students.

“This event will help in setting innovative trends in educational institutions in Gwadar” said visitors. The stall setters were on opinion that the gala provides a blend of theory and hand-on-hand learning of managerial, marketing and entrepreneurial skills while cultivation a business sense.

During this two days’ business Gala, thousands of number of visitors from Civil society, media, students from public and private colleges and schools, legal practioners, doctors, shopkeepers, employees, bankers and the people belong to all walks of life visited different stalls and took keen interest in shopping particularly hand-made products and food stuff. As many as 18 stalls were set up which included food stall, technology stall, theatre show, music, fun land, cultural stall, book stall and game show and other stalls. The first day of Gala was reserved for males and second day for females only. The sale of more than 8lacs lacs were recorded during business Gala.

VC presented a commemorative shield to the GPA Chairman Dostein Khan Jamaldini in recognition of his service for the development of Gwadar port and prosperity of the people of Gwadar.

During closing ceremony, the chief guest Chairman Gwadar municipal Corporation Abid Sohrabi, Campus Director Ijaz Ahmed, Director AIOU, DEO Female Gwadar Madam Bilqees had distrusted prizes, certificates and shields among the winners, organizers and guests.
