Session on Islamic Banking held in UoT’s Gwadar Campus

The Department of Commerce, in collaboration with Faisal Bank, organized a session on “Islamic Banking” at UoT’s Gwadar Campus on 1st April 2021.

Regional Manager Faysal Bank in Balochistan, Mr. Abdul Rehman, and Sharia Coordinator Faysal Bank Mr. Mufti Mehmood Ahmed elaborated the concept of Islamic Banking, its basic systems, principles, and practices being followed in Muslim Countries including the Islamic Republic of Pakistan. They distinguished the difference between the concept of conventional and Islamic banking with respect to the sharia being practiced in Pakistan.

In the end, the session was opened for questions in which students and faculty members raised relevant questions on the subject which were answered by the speakers accordingly.

Mr. Mujahid Hussain Incharge Commerce Department thanked the speakers for their cooperation in organizing a session on Islamic Banking at UoT’s Gwadar Campus. The session was attended by Campus Director Ijaz Ahmed, Branch Manager Faysal Bank at Gwadar    Muhammad Aqeel, faculty members, and students from Commerce and Management Sciences Department. On behalf of UoT’s vice-chancellor Prof. Dr. Jan Muhammad, the Campus Director presented the shield to the Faysal Bank’s Regional Manager.

Earlier, the visitors held a meeting with Campus Director in his office. The campus Director briefed them regarding the academic and infrastructural progress of the campus during the last four years. Appreciating the progress of UoT’s Gwadar Campus in a short span of time and efforts of the UoT’s vice-chancellor, faculty members, and admin staff in promoting higher education in this part of the country, the Faysal Bank’s Regional Manager announced to provide internship opportunities for the students of Gwadar Campus in Faysal Bank.
