HEC Chairman Highlights Role of Balochistan Universities in Advancing Higher Education

The Chairman of the Higher Education Commission (HEC), Prof. Dr. Mukhtar Ahmed said that the universities in Balochistan are playing a significant role in advancing higher education in the province. He expressed these views during a meeting with the vice-chancellors of Balochistan's universities held at BUITEMS Quetta on November 24, 2024.
Dr. Mukhtar Ahmed stated that the purpose of his visit to Quetta was to assess the challenges faced by universities in Balochistan and to work collaboratively with vice-chancellors and the provincial government to find effective solutions. He emphasized the importance of ensuring quality education for students that aligns with contemporary needs and encouraged universities to facilitate students in acquiring modern education.
On this occasion, the Provincial Education Minister Mrs. Rahila Hameed Durrani lauded the universities of Balochistan for their efforts in advancing higher education in the province despite limited resources. She acknowledged the challenges faced by the universities and assured that the government is fully aware of these issues and committed to taking all possible steps to address them.
The meeting was attended by vice-chancellors from all public sector universities in Balochistan. Prof. Dr. Gul Hasan, representing the University of Turbat, briefed the chairman on the progress and achievements of his institution despite limited resources. He also outlined the financial constraints faced by his university, providing detailed justifications and logical arguments for support from HEC, and provincial and federal governments.
