Like other parts of the country, the University of Turbat (UoT) observed “Black Day” on October 27, 2025 to raise voice against India’s unlawful occupation of Jammu and Kashmir on October 27, 1947, and to condemn its ongoing aggression in the valley.

On this occasion, a ceremony was held at UoT, which was attended by a large number of students. UoT’s Registrar Mr. Gunugzar Baloch, Dean, Faculty of Law, Dr. Muzaffar Hussain and Director Student Affairs, Mr. Chakar Hayder addressed on the occasion. Director Public Relations, Mr. Ijaz Ahmed was also present in the event.

Speaking on the occasion, the speakers highlighted the historical background of the Kashmiri people’s freedom struggle and the ongoing oppression perpetrated by India. They termed October 27, 1947 as the darkest day in the history of Jammu and Kashmir when India deployed its forces in the valley, violating international law and disregarding the will of the Kashmiri people. Since then, the innocent and unarmed people of Kashmir have faced continuous oppression, illegal occupation, and severe human rights violations.

Reaffirming Pakistan’s firm and righteous stance on the Kashmir issue, the speakers said that the Kashmiri freedom movement will continue until the people of Jammu and Kashmir achieve complete independence from Indian occupation.

The participants and speakers expressed full solidarity with the people of Kashmir and urged the international community to take notice of the severe human rights violations in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK). A one-minute silence was observed to honor the sacrifices of the Kashmiri people and to condemn Indian aggression in the region.
