Governor Balochistan Presides Over Turbat University’s 9th Senate Meeting, Commends University’s Performance, and Emphasizes Institutional Reforms

Quetta (October 31, 2025) The 9th Senate meeting of the University of Turbat (UoT) was held at the Governor’s House on October 31, 2025, under the chairmanship of Governor Balochistan, Jaffar Khan Mandokhail.

During the meeting, Governor Balochistan appreciated Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Gul Hasan and his team for their dedicated efforts toward the university’s progress and achievements. He said that there is always room for further improvement at the individual and institutional levels. Reaffirming his commitment to higher education, the Governor emphasized that all public sector universities in Balochistan should be strengthened and brought on par with those in Islamabad and Punjab.
Highlighting the province’s financial limitations, Governor Balochistan underscored the need to make salary packages more competitive to attract and retain talented faculty and staff. He said that one of the key features of the university’s Senate meetings lies in the valuable suggestions and constructive critiques provided by the esteemed members, which play a vital role in nurturing institutional transparency, accountability, and collective decision-making. He added that the diverse expertise and experience of the Senate members greatly contribute to the university’s progress.

According to the university spokesperson, the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Dr. Gul Hasan, briefed the Senate on the university’s academic, research, and development activities. He informed the members that from the 2026 academic year, UoT plans to launch several new academic programs aligned with modern technologies and contemporary needs. He also apprised the Senate on the progress of Phase-II development projects, ongoing initiatives, and future academic and infrastructural plans.
The Vice Chancellor highlighted that special emphasis is being placed on skill development, artificial intelligence, emerging technologies, and market-driven programs to equip graduates with practical competencies and enable them to play a productive role in national socio-economic development. He added that efforts are underway to align research activities with the national economic and social priorities. He informed the meeting that preparations for the university’s third convocation are in the final stages.

Addressing the Senate members, the Governor directed to expedite the pace of construction work on academic blocks, male and female hostels, the sports complex, and other ongoing projects so that students can benefit from these facilities at the earliest. Based on the recommendations and suggestions presented by the members, several important decisions were approved to enhance the university’s progress.
Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Gul Hasan expressed his gratitude to the Governor for his continued patronage, guidance, and keen interest in the development of the University of Turbat.
At the end of the meeting, Governor Jaffar Khan Mandokhail presented commemorative shields to the participants of the meeting. Provincial Secretary for Higher Education Saleh Baloch, Principal Secretary to the Governor Kaleem Ullah Babar, UoT Pro Vice Chancellor Dr. Mansoor Ahmed, HEC representative Dr. Zahoor Bazai, HEC Director General Dr. Nasir Shah, Additional Secretary Finance Department Arif Achakzai, UoT Registrar Gunguzar Baloch, and other Senate members were also present on the occasion.
