HEC Grants Approval for MPhil Sociology Program at the University of Turbat

The Higher Education Commission (HEC) of Pakistan has granted approval to the University of Turbat (UoT) to launch the Master of Philosophy (MPhil) program in Sociology, effective from the Spring 2026 academic session. This is learned from a notification issued by the HEC’s Quality Assurance Division (QAD).
According to the university spokesperson, Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Gul Hasan, along with the entire university fraternity, commended the dedicated efforts of the team behind this achievement. He specifically lauded Dr. Muhammad Tahir Hakeem, Dean, Faculty of Social Sciences, Dr. Muhammad Yaseen, Chairperson, Department of Sociology, Dr. Waseem Barkat, Director, Graduate Studies, Dr. Riaz Ahmed, Director, Quality Enhancement Cell, and the faculty members of the Sociology Department for their commitment to this landmark achievement.
Vice-Chancellor Dr. Gul Hasan stated that this achievement reflects UoT’s commitment to expanding its research portfolio while strictly adhering to HEC quality standards.
He emphasized that these HEC-approved programs aim to produce skilled researchers capable of addressing national socio-economic challenges. For the Spring 2026 session, UoT offers 13 graduate and over 50 undergraduate programs, with modernized curricula focusing on AI, entrepreneurship, and emerging technologies to meet evolving job market demands.
