Mr. Dosta Shah, the official photographer of the University of Turbat (UoT), achieved a significant professional milestone by completing a five-day documentary filmmaking workshop titled “Many Places, Many Stories.” Held at the Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS) from December 22-26, 2025, the program was organized under the Cultivating Humanities and Social Sciences (CHSS) Project. This project is run in collaboration with the Association for Asian Studies (AAS), the largest US-based organization focusing on Asian studies, and is funded by the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (SIDA).

In recognition of his creative talent and dedication, Mr. Dosta Shah was awarded a Certificate of Appreciation for his outstanding performance throughout the intensive training session.

Commending this achievement, Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Gul Hasan lauded Mr. Dosta Shah’s commitment to professional growth. He emphasized that the institution expects Mr. Dosta Shah to integrate these new skills into his professional work, specifically by making impactful documentaries and promotional videos that highlight the University of Turbat’s academic growth, research milestones, and regional contributions.

The workshop was facilitated by a panel of distinguished filmmakers and mentors, including Haya Fatima Iqbal, Faizan Ahmad, Anya Raza, Dr. Furrukh Khan, and Husain Qaizar Yunus.

The workshop hosted a diverse cohort of participants from Balochistan, Gilgit-Baltistan, Azad Jammu & Kashmir, and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, as well as remote districts located far from major metropolitan and provincial centers, to strengthen participants’ storytelling and filmmaking skills. The workshop covered the entire lifecycle of a documentary, from conceptualization and narrative structuring to advanced shooting techniques and editing.
