Turbat University Hosts Research Grant Proposal Writing Session, Dr. Javed Ahmed Shahani Leads as Resource Person

The Office of Research, Innovation and Commercialization (ORIC) at the University of Turbat (UoT) organized a lecture session on “Writing Research Grant Proposals” on May 5, 2026, in the university’s newly established smart classroom.
The session was attended by faculty members, admin staff, as well as MPhil and PhD scholars of the university. Prof. Dr. Javed Ahmed Shahani was the resource person of the session. He is a Professor of Computer Science and Director of the Office of Research, Innovation, and Commercialization (ORIC) at Sukkur IBA University. He holds dual PhDs and has completed a postdoctoral fellowship at European universities, including a PhD under the Erasmus Mundus scholarship funded by the European Commission, as well as a postdoctoral fellowship at NTNU.
During the session, Dr. Javed Shahani emphasized the importance of enhancing research capacity and developing essential skills required for preparing effective and competitive research grant proposals. He shared practical techniques for proposal writing, including idea development, structuring proposals, and aligning them with funding requirements.
In his welcome remarks, Director ORIC, Dr. Muhammad Yaseen, stated that the session was part of ORIC’s ongoing efforts to promote a strong research culture at the university under the leadership of the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Dr. Gul Hasan, and to support faculty in securing research projects at national and international levels.
According to the university spokesperson, Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Gul Hasan, in his message, appreciated ORIC's efforts in hosting such a valuable session and expressed his gratitude to Prof. Dr. Javed Ahmed Shahani for his continued support. He noted that such initiatives play a vital role in strengthening the research competencies of faculty members and scholars, and in encouraging them to actively pursue funded research opportunities at the international level.
After the session, the newly established state-of-the-art smart classroom was inaugurated. The facility has been set up under the European Commission-funded Erasmus+ CBHE RAPID Project, led by Sukkur IBA University, with Prof. Dr. Javed Ahmed Shahani serving as the Project Coordinator.
